I have just finished the Sixth Sock of the SixSoxKnitalong.

The idea was "Go Team" socks, but I am so not into sports.

So mine say I (heart) Maggie, and I (heart) Jamie, the names of my two younger children. Rather than do the vertical stripes and the checkerboard, I used hearts, a row of alternating hearts first in blue on pink, then by the toes in pink on the blue. I did a minature pair for Maggie in reversed colors, saying Maggie Rose, with duplicate stitch hearts over the instep gusset. (The cuff was a bit long as it is, so I left out the second stranding part. And I didn't want to do stranded work near her toes, she's really sensitive to getting a thread caught over a toe!) I'll probably do Jamie Kevin socks, too, in blue and white, but I'm going to wait until closer to winter, and see if he grows.

And now I'm done Done DONE! I've done all Six Sox!

There's an extra raffle for those of us who get the pic up by April 30th. I doubt I'll win - I've been in 7 raffles with this knitalong so far, given the extra CIC ones, and I'm just not a raffle-winning kind of person. Pity, as I really REALLY want the felted basket pattern that's part of the prize.

Now I am going to go work on something different. A lace throw. Not a sock at ALL. I'm going to cast on tonight.

Okay, okay, I'm going to be good and do the gauge swatch first. Given that the pattern calls for a 32" #8, a 32" #9 is probably the right size for me. But for using up 9 skeins of yarn, I'm going to be good and check first.

Wheeee!

I (heart) Brendan would not have fit, it was tricky enough getting Maggie in.

I did a pair of socks for Brendan last year, rainbow striped socks with purple heels and toes. He liked them, but he didn't take very good care of them. He tends to use socks for puppets or put stuff in them or tie them in knots, and doesn't have the judgment to realize that what is fine to do with cheap white walmart socks isn't okay with handknit socks.

And also he's not living here right now.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the rainbow socks. Well, he's a kid and kids will do that kind of stuff w/clothing and toys...I so did that with the stuff my mom made too. Ugh, I'm sure I drove her nuts.

Yay! You're so awesome. I bet you have a huge feeling of accomplishment (and relief!).

I hope you win the raffle, whatever the prize is.

Awesome sockage!

If you want to enter a fun raffle, don't forget the Interfilk quilt. [livejournal.com profile] nlbarber won it a couple of years ago.

Interfilk quilt requires MASSIVE amounts of money to "win". I do not have this.

I'd like to put in a square sometime - hoped to last year, since I could get help from my mother before going there. But it didn't work out. And I really don't know quilting, nor is it something I can do in my lap during filking.

I did a sweater for the kids last GAFilk.

Everyone else is right: Beaucoup talent. But they'd be even better looking on the cute kids!
