More on the knit lace throw
May. 1st, 2005 08:53 pmSo yesterday I got a whole bunch done on the throw, felt I'd made good progress. Today in the car I tried to keep working on it - and was on the YO, K2TOG row and the numbers didn't come out right. GAH. I have tinked 5 rows so far, and I *think* I've finally fixed it, I need to count it again.
So I am giving in. My pride would like to say "I don't NEED stitch markers to keep my place in lace!" But you know, stitch markers would have made that problem less difficult to find. So I stopped by Michaels'. Commercial knit stitch markers are ugly and come in small packages where only a few would have fit these big needles. So I bought jump rings and a bunch of charms, pretty things like silver hearts, amethyst hearts, colored stones wrapped in wire, and have made 18 of my own. That's more than enough right now, although I realize when I move into the main lace pattern I'll actually want 22 or so, so I may hunt for a few more charms.
Now I have to go put them on. If they're pretty charm stitch markers, then it's knitting jewelry, right? And therefore not really an encroachment on my pride. Just for pretty. Right, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
