Not long after I had acquired a family, I was talking to a friend on the phone, long distance. During the call, Vicky (then age 3) went skating by -- in the living room. I reminded her that we don't wear roller skates in the house and that they were for outside, and my friend reminded me that there are some things a person shouldn't overhear and he was getting off the phone to preserve my dignity.
