I have some crochet work I want to start in on. It calls for a size I hook, so I started swatching with a K, knowing me. That was too big. Okay, so apparently I need a J.

I can't find my J.

I know I HAVE one. It's part of a matched set that was given me. I think I last used it on the hat and the flower that I made for the hat and didn't put on it.

I can't find it anywhere. I've hunted through the living room shelves and kitchen counter, and all through my study.

AGH!

I really really really want to do the other swatch and start in on this thing. But I can't find it.

And since I have one, I don't feel I can go buy another one. Plus it's such a pain in the butt to have to drag the kids on errands.

I WANT MY J HOOK!!!

So - do you expect me to confess how many J hooks I own, under similar circumstances? You do? Well, you'll just have to count them in my crochet hook mug, along with the multiple Gs, Hs, etc.!

Good luck in finding it - they usually show themselves only after you have purchased a replacement.

If I managed to actually locate and get all the crochet hooks I own together in one place, I could undoubtedly supply a whole girl scout troop. Though the last two sets I bought (one for my work bag and one for home) actually do seem to be hanging around and not vanishing, much to my utter surprise. I think actually realizing that is how I misplace so many and buying the two sets helped a lot. Of course, since I bought them I've been working almost entirely with one of them (I, I believe) as I've been using the same yarn for almost everything I've been doing of late (I always need a size larger than the pattern as I work way too tensely, even when relaxed).

That's the way it works - whichever hook you need, you won't have. When I lost the K hook I was using several weeks ago, I discovered that I had 4 H hooks and two of just about every other reasonable size, but no more Ks. I had to go buy another.
