I was just showing [livejournal.com profile] selenite a promotional sale email I got from Cedarworks Playsets, the company from whom we are eagerly hoping to buy a marvelous playset[1] ([1] Yes, yes, I know we can go down to a big hardware store and get cheap plastic components and metal pinchy chains for swings and buy their arsenic-treated splintery lumber and attempt to make our own cheap playset. Not going to, we're going to wait and get the nice one) for the kids in the future sometime when we can afford it. Not, I'm sad to say, any time soon, especially with some of the recent troubles.

I showed it to [livejournal.com profile] selenite, and we discussed hopes for the future. Then I said it was a pity they weren't like computer components - but sadly, there is no Moore's Law for playsets. Be interesting if there was.

A couple of those gorgeous cedar playsets (probably not from that company, but that kind of stuff) have been given away via Freecycle in our area.

In my own journal, though. I take the position there IS such a progression and it IS, as you say, interesting.

Wow.

My husband and I are still debating the build-your-own vs. purchase ready-made. This company looks amazing,
