However, I'm back on a borrowed laptop on a tray by my bed, as going downstairs is currently out of the question. Bless Gerry Tyra for the amazing network guru that he is, and incredibly kind man. Hope you got some sleep. Reading your account reminded me that when we needed to have a post-op patient walk, do deep breathing exercises, or anything else that was going to be very painful we tried to time that activity to be at least 30 minutes after giving a pain med. Oral meds take that long to begin working. Application: about 30-40 minutes after you've taken your pain med, try making a trip to the bathroom. Do this CAREFULLY, since you may be a bit woozy. Should be the most pain-free way. Sorry I don't have a magic wand - the Diploma program RN didn't cover that.

So glad the surgery is over, and here's hoping the pain gets more manageable fast. Having a coccyx floating around in you was definitely not a good thing!
