Apparently going back upstairs has reopened a part of the incision.

Well, isn't that special.

Now I have to figure out what to do about tomorrow. Wondering if I should have Karl bring chairs up to the upstairs nook and ask them to come up and talk to me there.

Probably not a bad idea. Is the swinging chair a good idea for you, or not so much?

I'm not at all sure about the skychair right now. I'm afraid it would put too much weight on the incision. I think getting OUT of it would be difficult. I certainly wouldn't want to try it without Karl there to help me. I think I'm going to stick to the special camp chair for now. And less of that.

Please take it easy. I reopened the incision on my stomach and it took forever to repair. Granted, I was just straight up stupid, but it still sucked.

Ow. What surgery did you have, if you don't mind me asking?

It's hard to deal with the work-ethic guilt of "I should get up and do more". I've managed my own internal voices by telling myself "I promised Karl I wouldn't". Once external voices start chiming in, it gets harder.

I actually had a scar on my stomach, from a birth defect, repaired. It was a 14 inch long incision, and I didn't take enough time off.

:-( It sucked. A lot.

And I understand about the work-ethic guilt. Being told I was slacking because of my gender got me slinging 60+ lb. ammo boxes two weeks after surgery.

You are entitled to tell anyone, "I had surgery recently and I can't do stairs." Because you had surgery recently. You can, if you feel like being shocking, show them the incision, and tell them that stairs re-opened it, and frankly, good people will not attempt to make you do things that could result in complications like expensive emergency room visits over trivia like who goes upstairs.

You had surgery recently. Get the chairs upstairs. (Heck, if it were more comfortable, be propped up in bed with an elegant bedrobe, like Cinderella's stepmom in her bedroom with her cat Lucifer. If it can work for an evil stepmother, it can work for us all!)

I'm sure Karina or Rorik could be co-opted under this plan!
