Ok, that's just awesome. It appeals to both my techie side and my crafty side. :-)

Gee, just bought a ball winder last weekend, and now I see this! I could have had my bro-in-law make me one for Christmas! ;-)

I have a ball winder, and I still want one!
I want a swift, too!

A Lego Swift would be a bit more of a challenge.....

I want a swift, but the ball winder was a stretch to justify as it was -- I don't use hanks that often (yet). (And if this ball winder doesn't handle laceweight well, then I'm going to be really peeved. I can wind a nice center-pull ball of Alpaca Cloud by hand just fine; it just takes two hours to do it....)

Oh, the ball winder is good for more than hanks. When you've had a ball tangled and undo half of it, when you're going to use beads and you need to make sure the WHOLE thing has no knots, you wind it first - some people rewind all balls - when you've finished and you have leftover, it's easier if you make a new clean ball of it. My mom finds that yarn balled with the ballwinder is easier to store, she gets more of them into a container.
