If you're sitting down to read this, take a moment to appreciate it.

Because you take it for granted, don't you? That you can sit down. And stay sitting down.

My FEET HURT. I spend almost the entire day standing up. Because I'm still recovering from this surgery, can only sit in certain chairs, and have limits for how long I can do that. My feet, shins, knees all hurt. A lot.

And we set the computers up so I *could* stand at mine - so that's where I am a lot. I'm tired.

There's one chair that works pretty well. But we need to rearrange things so I can use it at the computer. And it's a big wooden ladderback chair - and that's exactly how the kids use it, they've knocked it down on themselves several times already, so mostly I can't have it in the same room with them.

Ay me, I do appreciate what you are enduring. I could not sit properly until after my epidural, that was about 4 months. My chiropractor had nothing more useful to suggest than to type standing up.

At least you do have one chair in which you can sit comfortably. What are the chances of getting a couple more chairs like it at garage sales or the like? Also, you might consider sewing a quick slip-cover for the chair back, incidentally covering up the "ladder" back. Out of sight, out of mind.

Have you tried kneeling? When I sprained my hip, it was actually the most comfortable thing for me.

BOY, do I sympathize! Until the VA corrects the piece they missed in the nerve block in September, I get about an hour of sitting comfortably before I have to get up and move around (and comfortably is relative, let me tell you -- I tend to lean on the left arm of my desk chair a lot, which is not really a good thing). Then after about four hours, I need to lay down for a half-hour or so. It's a good thing I'm working at home for a client who's actually paying well and on time. If only it were permanent . . . so I could get bennies and find a -real- doctor, not the VA.

Take care of yourself!
