If you're sitting down to read this, take a moment to appreciate it.

Because you take it for granted, don't you? That you can sit down. And stay sitting down.

My FEET HURT. I spend almost the entire day standing up. Because I'm still recovering from this surgery, can only sit in certain chairs, and have limits for how long I can do that. My feet, shins, knees all hurt. A lot.

And we set the computers up so I *could* stand at mine - so that's where I am a lot. I'm tired.

There's one chair that works pretty well. But we need to rearrange things so I can use it at the computer. And it's a big wooden ladderback chair - and that's exactly how the kids use it, they've knocked it down on themselves several times already, so mostly I can't have it in the same room with them.

Ay me, I do appreciate what you are enduring. I could not sit properly until after my epidural, that was about 4 months. My chiropractor had nothing more useful to suggest than to type standing up.

At least you do have one chair in which you can sit comfortably. What are the chances of getting a couple more chairs like it at garage sales or the like? Also, you might consider sewing a quick slip-cover for the chair back, incidentally covering up the "ladder" back. Out of sight, out of mind.

Do you ever remember seeing the big wooden almost thronelike chair that Karl would bring to renfaires and SCA events? It's that one. He picked it up somewhere odd in California.

Unfortunately, my children are dedicated climbers, and treat the whole chair as a fun experience.

and we're sitting in it in this picture - not that it helps much, given his cloak.

Some better views of it:

It's from an unfinished furniture place on PCH at the west end of Malibu. Not someplace we can get back to easily.

Thank you, darling.

Seeing you in that surcoat still gives me a surge of happy pride.
