Today's expedition, and a needed carol
Dec. 13th, 2005 05:04 pmI'm spending a lot of today with
sandy_tyras, Rhiannon, and Shawn. Gerry's been working 7 days a week, so they haven't gotten to go holiday shopping. I end up bored at home most days, and have a van. 2 problems, one solution. We picked them up this morning, went up to Ridgmar Mall, and I sat doing my knitting while the kids played in the toddler area and the others shopped. They brought the walkie-talkies they use while running sound at cons, how convenient. The kids had fun. They did well. Jamie does shove his sister now and then, but fortunately not anybody else. Maggie fell and banged her elbow at one point, and there was much howling for a while, but things seem to be okay now. We had lunch together at the mall. The kids enjoyed themselves. Maggie got to see a security policewoman on a horse outside. She did not want to pet the pretty bay, though.
After that we went to the Farmer's Market across from the mall, then went and mailed off a package to the kids' big brother Brendan, did a Walmart run for various supplies, and are now home. Collapsed quietly while the kids watch a nature video.
In a bit, probably when the guys get home, we'll do dinner and play with the chocolate fountain. Whee.
Quote of the day - as we were getting back into the van at the mall I was commenting on how quickly I need to be ready for the holidays. Oh wow, I only have a week from Friday, somehow I thought I had two weeks. Eeek. And I said, "Time is fleeting, madness takes it toll. Hey, that should be a Christmas song."

Doggeral at short notice
Date: 2005-12-15 02:35 am (UTC)You rang?
Christmas pleasures:
Children's treasures,
Let the good times roll
Christmas shopping
'Til we're dropping
Isn't that the goal?
Christmas greetings:
Time is fleeting,
madness takes its toll
Let us rather
Take our pleasure
In a song that's droll!
There is a tune to this. I can hear it in my head: la la LA la / la LA la LA / la la la la LA. But "ell-if-eye-no" if it's a real one.
