I generally try desperately to avoid political stuff. Whenever I've posted anything that can even be construed as political, people have decided to go get nasty in my comments and I've regretted it. This time I am anyway. (Get nasty with me? Get tossed out.)

Support freedom of speech and freedom of the press? Then buy Danish!

Hm, I don't think I like Havarti. I wonder what other cheeses are Danish. Buttercookies, YUM, I'm sure I can find some of those. Maybe it's time for the kids to get more Legos. They say you can get the hams at a Sams club, but I haven't a membership, anyone know where else?

I have nothing of importance to say about the whole cartoon kerfluffle (except to laugh at the muslim nations demands that the newspaper that originally printed it be punished).

I do however, love your 1776 icon to death. Could you please tell me where you got it? (puppy dog eyes)

Just, y'know, not ham made of Piglet.

There ain't nuthin' like a DANE...

Maybe it's a good time for us remaining SoCal residents to go shopping in Solvang? http://www.solvangca.com/html/shopping.html

Havarti is a rather mild, buttery white cheese. Not much to dislike if you eat cheese at all. Other Danish cheeses include Tilsit [much like Gouda] and Saga Blue [but I don't care for blue cheeses in any country personally].

Danish butter cookies like the ones that come in tins around the holidays? There should still be lots of those kicking around, possibly on sale. Yum.

I was going to mention Legos, but you've beaten me to it.

You could also buy and listen to recordings of Victor Borge.

I'm not kidding -- he was Danish by birth, American by choice, and Jewish by background, and he performed classical music (now banned in Iran).

He was also, IMAO, one of the greatest comedians of the past century known to me, which ought to count for something in and of itself.

Mmmmm.... cheese.

The Danes are really rather splendid: They can dine out on their courage during WW2 for the rest of history, I expect.

I'm a vegetarian, but I'll see if a local store has Tuborg beer. A toast to freedom of the press, and to the right to drink in moderation, so long as you aren't driving.
