More on the whole Danish girlcott thing - that being the word selenite is using, I'm sure he picked that up somewhere interesting.

I had babyback ribs last night. YUM. Actually, I will also be having leftovers for lunch. And I know from a previous discussion with them that this particular chain of restaurants imports Danish ones.

Who knew activism could be so tasty? :-)

The movement to deliberately buy Danish goods gave shadowcell a powerful craving for Danish butter cookies. I've never liked those, but I got a hankering for Havarti some fierce. Think I'll get some at the commissary today!

If you do find them, be sure and check the small print. Whilst shopping last week, I found one tin of DANISH [style] BUTTER COOKIES which turned out to be "Made In Indonesia". OK, so it was manufactured before the boycott but as that's one of the major centers of Islamic population in South Asia, that just cracked me up.

As for the above: Imported ribs in the great meat-producing state of Texas? Seems like an odd business practice. Unless it's Ikea or something like that.

I just checked--Spec's is a Houston-area-only chain.

I'd suggest Trader Joe's, which seems to have a similar market niche, but they don't seem to exist in Texas.

Hmm...I'm trying to think of any hedonistic foodie types I know in the DFW area, but I'm drawing a blank.

Nope, I used to go to Trader Joe's all the time in California, but they aren't here. Central Market is my closest equivalent, and they didn't have any. Swedish cookies, yes; Danish, no.

I saw a stack of the tins in SuperWally not long ago.
And not in Christmas decoration print, either: just plain blue.
Seems like they were near the vanillawafers and Oreos.

Hm, we checked the cookie aisle in our walmart, and couldn't find any.
