Sonnet the first
May. 11th, 2006 11:58 amNo, I'm not doing these in comment order, it's in inspiration order. And no, I did not promise Art. Just format.
The muffin is a simple, homely food
Of butter, sugar, eggs, some milk, some flour.
Poured in their pan to bake, a merry brood,
The effort all entire won't take an hour.
And yet their making speaks of love and care
Of nurture and devotion through a meal.
They stand, when made to give away or share,
Unspoken tasty signs of love that's real.
Oh sure, a baking could be all for me,
Those fluffy tops, that faintly steaming scent,
A hoarded batch to munch alone with glee -
And yet that rarely stands as my intent.
And though my love for chocolate I've confessed,
I know blueberry's what my love likes best.

Date: 2006-05-11 06:44 pm (UTC)Exactly, a tangible expression of love. Exactly!
Thank you!

Fun sonnet, though! [wanders away, meditating muffins. We have chocolate chocolate chip in our fridge; if you were here, you could have some.]
