I gave into temptation. I cast on the first of the Barter Socks. I finished the ribbing and have just begun the leg pattern. It's a nice pattern.

Rationalizing - I have to make SURE I get these done well ahead of the deadline, so I can give them to her FenCon weekend. And now I have a small, portable project to take along while Jamie's getting his haircut tomorrow. (Let's skip over thoughts of whether or not Jamie will actually HOLD STILL for his haircut without me having to hang onto him, okay?) And hey, I'll still be working on them for ApolloCon - socks make a GREAT portable con project. Right?

I'll be good and work on the pink dress tonight. Really. Honest.

Going from worsted weight pink cotton on metal needles to fingering weight blue-purple wool on bamboo is quite a switch. I like my sock needles, although they are getting a bit banged up.

Hey, you know what? For anyone out there wondering what would make a great knitting present for me (and hey, who isn't, right?), I wish I had a set of 5 double pointed needles in size 3 mm in a nice hardwood - ebony or rosewood or something, really smooth. That would be so cool. Note, that's metric size 3 mm, NOT US size 3. (US size 2.5 actually, not that most places have that)

edit: I searched online. Lantern Moon makes me want to whimper. Exactly the sort of thing I want - in US whole sizes only. Ebony! Sigh

Sometimes, when one is working on a "big" project like a garment, ya just need to take a break and do something else for a while! I know I do, anyway. That's why another half-dozen scarves have gotten created lately. :)

See, I knew you'd understand.

I found a website with two different brands of ebony DPNs in metric sizes! Oooh, the desire!

I like rosewood even better than ebony, though ebony is denser wood and perhaps less likely to break. Y'see, when you use rosewood, it warms in the hand and you get that delicate, beautiful rosewood scent going...
