celticdragonfly: (Jamie w/glasses)

Jamie managed to break his glasses while playing with Maggie upstairs.

One lens popped out, temples bent to heck and gone, no way can I fix this.

I guess I am going to need to shower, then go drive out to Southlake. DAMN. That's a bitch of a drive.

They will fix them, guaranteed. I just wonder how many TIMES they'll fix them.

He's only had them since last Tuesday.

1. You knew you were going, probably today anyway.
2. As many times as you need them to. A guarantee is a guarantee and he's two, for goodness' sakes, what did they think? You might see if you can get a spare set for these occasions when you just can't make the drive.
3. Sympathy hugs 'cuz you need them about now.

I'd been leaning towards going Wednesday, when I might have been able to inveigle company into coming with me.

The spare pair is a good idea. I will probably wait on that until after the 6 week checkup, and see what his long-term prescription will be.

Thanks for the hugs. I'm kicking myself for having gone with the Grapevine doctor to get him seen sooner, because now it means these loooong drives every time there's a problem. But I really did not want to wait a month. Sigh.

Oh, what a pain...grrr. I'm sure they will be understanding about repeated repairs--if they sell glasses to 2-yr-olds, they're going to know what that entails!

Hope so. I apparently have *unusually* high-energy children. I know I was grousing about the baby in Court Jester and saying that real babies were nothing like that - and was told, oh, So-and-so's babies are...

I don't think yours are any more energetic than I'd expect--wonder if the perception is due to so many people drugging their kids into submission these days. :P

Eh, when they're being compared to other, subdued babies and toddlers - really, nobody's giving ritalin to the 2-4 year old crowd, that I've heard of.

I don't know if you have consequences thought out for him for situations like these. Yes, he's young, but destroying an expensive item in less than a week is, imnsho, grounds for puttin' the fear-o-God into him.

The glasses themselves may be under warranty, but your time and trouble aren't.

To use a delightful Texas expression, it's time to (whether physically or otherwise) open up a can of whupp-ass.

Had I caught him in the act, I'd have done so. He's gotten a couple of smacks on the hand for yanking on them already. I'm trying to walk the line between punishing him for damaging them and not wanting him to have lots of negative associations with them. He does get praise now and then for leaving them on.

Unfortunately, he and Maggie were playing in her room, and Maggie called me up to tell me they were broken - met me at the gate at the top of the stairs to hand me glasses and the loose lens. He's still young enough that you have to punish right away to get a connection.
