And then there were 4...
Oct. 18th, 2003 09:09 pmI'm pleased to say we have the Brendan-boy safely returned to us, picked up at the airport. Despite a mishap - it wasn't until we got to DFW that I found out American flies into *2* different terminals, and of course we picked the wrong one first. But we were very pleased to see him, and he seems to have enjoyed his flight. On the way out to the car he was cheerfully talking about being in Texas, and we were getting a red brick house, and his room was GREEN! Which is nice, proves he actually does listen to what I tell him on the phone.
So we drove back west and took him by to see the house. Couldn't go in, as we explained to him, but we could show it to him from the outside, point out which windows were which, and let him and Maggie run around in the back yard for a bit.
(Karl and I were looking about in the various overgrown plant beds, which need to be cleaned out, and found three kittens curled up together. Cute. We decided not to go any closer, hoping not to disturb them, and wondering where MamaCat was. Two did startle and go hide deeper in the underbrush. Technically
they shouldn't be there - but given my current feelings and situation there's no way I'd let anybody evict homeless babies! Karl insists I should not feed them. Currently a moot point anyway.)
Then we took the kids over and showed them the playground at the park a few blocks away, and let them run and play for a few minutes. Not long, as it was sunset and the mosquitoes were coming out.
Both kids zonked out on the way back to the hotel, so we cancelled plans of eating out. They've both reawoken now, but I don't feel like going back out, there's food here. And a phone call from one of the house owners, sounds like things are going well enough with repainting and repairs that we should be able
to move closing up from the 30th to the 27th, which is definitely very good for us. Yay.
And I am very very tired, and am going to go eat something and take it easy now.
