Snow-cones!
Aug. 13th, 2006 11:28 pmI was out doing groceries this afternoon with the kids, and
fordprfct was along keeping us company. I saw a snow-cone ice-shaving thingy, and said I hadn't had a snow-cone in ages. I couldn't even remember the last time I had one. He said we oughta, then. I've seen snow-cone stands lots, but it's been so very hot, and for me to stop with the kids, that's me taking them out of the car in the heat, trying to keep them under control at the stand, then trying to hold snowcones and get them back into an overheating car - ugh. But since I had company, sure.
So as soon as the groceries were in the car, I drove down to where I remembered seeing on in Saginaw, and sure enough, there it was.
Man, everything IS bigger in Texas. I remember snow-cones being in these little paper cone things. These are made in styrofoam cups. There are SIX sizes! The smallest size is bigger than I remember snow-cones being. (And for 25 cents more, they'll "snowball top" it) Whee!
fordprfct stayed in the car with the kids so I could leave the A/C running. He had a giant black cherry, snowball top, extra juice. I got to taste it later, oh yum! I got a large, strawberry and grape, snowball top. To me, strawberry and grape are just The Proper Flavors. Although I may be tempted to have black cherry another time. The listing of "dill pickle" I found disturbing and commented on - the proprietor said it was mostly teenage girls who went for that. Ookayyy.
They were delicious. All that ice - oh yeah, I could feel my body temp dropping. I gave Maggie a bite when we got home, but she didn't like it.
