Halloween meetings

So here it is Samhain, and we've just moved into the house, and are surrounded by a wilderness of boxes. And I'm 8 months pregnant. Kinda limits the possibilities. And Brendan's restricted diet does, too. So we had Brendan dress up in an old pumpkin costume - I could FIND it, well, minus the green leafy collar part, it still fits, mostly, and we had plenty of packing paper to stuff it with! And briefly dressed up Maggie in his old Dragon costume. And we had Brendan help with giving out candy to the kids that came by. (Since Karl was good enough to get the porch lightbulbs replaced in time.) Too hot and muggy to want to go walk the kids around on trick-or-treating ourselves, especially since Maggie's too young for the candy and Brendan's diet would eliminate almost all of it.
So I'd taken over so that Brendan could go eat. We had one couple come by with two kids who commented that we must have just moved in - they knew the Utzingers, and had recently moved away themselves, but came back to trick-or-treat in their old neighborhood. I was able to tell them that they'd moved to a bigger place, and it was nearby.
Then later a couple showed up with 2 small kids, and the lady said "You must be Laura". Just as I'm wondering how she knew that, she introduced herself as Lana Utzinger - it was the previous owners, with 2 of their 5 kids. We invited them in and chatted about all kinds of stuff for a while. It was really nice. Sounds like we're similar in a lot of ways. Reinforces for me the feeling that this house likes us!
They have 4 daughters and one son, the son is just Maggie's age. (Which was handy - I could offer a diaper in his size!) We talked about kids and childbirth and all sorts of stuff. Rob reset the alarm code for me. Karl and he were off talking Lockheed/Northrop stuff, they work at the same plant, in different buildings.
Very nice to meet them. I hope we get to again.
