It's COLD down here.

Ongoing troubles with the furnace/heating system. What IS it with me, buying houses, and furnace troubles?

Another polar front blew in last night, with lots of loud winds. And a couple days ago the downstairs thermostat started saying THERM -AC and refusing to do anything. Thank goodness the upstairs one still works.

In all the fuss the last few times the guy's been out here to work on things, we found out that something about the system was badly installed - the size of the A thingy doesn't match the size of the B thingy, and they ought to - and for that matter what it says on the outside of the B thingy box doesn't match the B thingy that's inside there. (Mike at AirRite understands all this... I don't.)

So having heard this, the home warranty company has declared that this does not fall under their purview to fix. And for that matter, they won't cover fixing ANY problems on the system until that IS fixed.

So I have Karl trying to research with Air Rite what our options are for fixing all this - Mike had said we could do it the cheaper-now way, or the more expensive but slightly more energy efficient in the long run way.

In the meantime I have the electric heater running downstairs - and the oven on with the door open.

A lovely situation to deal with when I'm 9 1/2 months pregnant.

Call up the prior owners and suggest sweetly that this little problem should have been on the disclosure phase of the closing, and why isn't it, and can they kindly take responsibility for it before you regretfully involve nasty legal type people?

I think that there's a law about disclosures of Weird House Stuff. Might be only a state one, but...

Of course, waving lawyers around costs money -- and they're kind of heavy. O:/

Luck!!! (At least you're not overheating?)
