Gah. Bad night. Bad body.

My hips and legs hurt really bad from having to sleep on my sides. My stomach is unhappy. And the left side of my JAW has popped out.

The jaw thing happens to Karl occasionally, he's told me about it. I had sympathized, but man, I didn't know how bad it was. It aches, it bugs me, and I can't bite down with the left side, and it HURTS when I try. He gets it because of TMJ type problems, I guess for me it's just more of the whole "relaxin loosens all joints" thing. I don't know if I'm going to be able to eat like this. It keeps feeling like if I yawned big enough it ought to pop back in. Karl says that doesn't work, and I just have to try to let it relax and eventually it ought to go back. But he says it stayed like that for a couple of days once. GAH!

Now that Karl's taken Jamie off to school, I'm going back to bed for a while, to cuddle with Maggie - who woke sobbing this morning because she's so sad because her Daddy goes to work.

Have you tried one of those U-shaped pillows, the ones that are supposed to support the belly?

No, I just have a pillow tucked between my knees. It helps, but not enough. I am not meant to sleep on my sides, sigh - I'm a stomach sleeper normally.

You might try it, since it would come up high enough to support the belly. I"m a side sleeper, so I'm just throwing out guesses here.

*Ow* I have TMJ problems as well. What's worse is the pressure of the jaw being out of place cause the muscles to cramp up as well.

Ibuprofen may be out for you, but I found a dab of muscle balm, (tiger balm, ben gay, etc.) at the point of the jaw seems to help, as does a heating pad.

Best of luck

Chiropractor? Just make sure you get a good one, for something like your jaw.

You might also be able to get an injection of a local muscle relaxant from your regular doctor. I don't know if they have something that will work on muscles in your jaw without getting into your blood (and thus into the baby), but since it's a soft-tissue problem, maybe they can do that.

Oh, never never never again. I had one good one once, before Jamie. Then got sent to another - referred by the midwives, so she ought to have been gentle - made things worse for me. Looking back at it later, we think she broke my coccyx. I can't prove it wasn't broken before she was working on me in June two years ago - but certainly there was a day that there was a horrible crack sound, and she insisted oh, she'd put my hip back - and I was never out of pain after that, and things shifted when I sat, and it was agonizing to stand. And after much work and going through specialists and research and x-ray, turned out I had a broken coccyx - totally broken OFF, we eventually found - and it required surgery and most of a year of recovery.

You have my sympathies. At least it shouldn't be too much longer before you have a baby outside your womb, and don't have this set of troubles.

Probably 9-13 weeks. Doesn't sound like a long time, but when you hurt, it is. I remember the later weeks just crawled along.

Of course, there will be a different set of troubles then, but yeah, I'm ready to trade.

(Not yet, no. Premie troubles aren't ones I want. I just am miserable now.)
