celticdragonfly: (Maggie Xmas 2006)

So when I posted earlier about Maggie in her handmedown cat nightshirt, and Rorik curled up with her overnight, [livejournal.com profile] bkseiver commented that he's her devoted vassal, and has faithfully slept with her regularly all her life. Mom said she has a pic of him with her in the cosleeper the first week of life.

Well, I couldn't find that picture - but I found others that amuse me highly. I've been going back through some of the old baby pictures, and thought I'd share.

I didn't find one of Rorik in the first month - I wonder if Mom has one I don't have on my computer, or if possibly she was thinking of this one:

This one is actually Karina watching over Maggie from just outside the cosleeper.

We do have one of him from the first month, watching over her on her boppy:

The watchfulness begins!

However, both Rorik and Pixel did like to sleep in her cosleeper.

I LOVE this face-to-face shot of the two of them in October 02, when Maggie was 4 months old:

Checking each other out

Here in December, we see both Rorik and Pixel curled up in her crib with her, as she slept:

Sleeping trio

The cute thing is that once Maggie was awake, they stayed IN the crib with her - here's 6-month-old Maggie reaching out to pet Rorik

Awwwww!

So yes, he's been watching over her all along.

It's amazing to see all these baby pictures again, and then go spend time with almost-5-year-old Maggie, playing Candyland and then discussing the pictures on the front of the box, in her very determined fascinating style.

We have a Pixel as well! Ours is all black and white, though. That's him in my icon.

Your pictures are adorable.

Sadly, our Pixel is since deceased. He was a wonderful cat. Runt of the litter, and very much my boy. He was a red tabby who originally had only one word ("Heep!" instead of "Blert", but still), and as a kitten loved to come climbing up my pants - so he utterly had to be named Pixel.

I'm sorry to hear that. I can't imagine losing our baby. Our Pixel is 11 years old. He's a pretty chilled out cat now, but as a kitten he was quite the psycho. He would move so quickly that he would appear in a room we were sure he wasn't near, even when the door didn't open, hence his name. Now he spends most of his days curled up on the bed, except when he's riled up by our two year old kitten, Calypso, who has taken up the mantle of psycho cat.

That face to face one is fantastic--it should be put on a mug or a magnet or something. :D

Awww indeed. Shomer Cat! (I'm told that means "watchful" in Hebrew.)

And that "checking each other out" shot is just begging for a cat macro! ("You lookin' at me? Huh? YOU LOOKIN' AT ME?!")

I was thinking that myself, having seen the YouTube video done to <.j user="filkertom">'s song on that subject.

My. Niece. Is. Adorable.

Squee!

I, too, am shocked by the contrast with the five year old I now know and love. But gosh she was cute then too.
