Fiona bag, and Tulip sweater
Jun. 22nd, 2007 03:22 pmI have been working on the Fiona bag for Maggie, in pink. I am ANNOYED with it. Once it goes to working in the round, it wants to be on a very short circular. I haven't been able to find a store carrying a #9 circular that size locally. (Okay, I didn't get to every store around, but it's hard for me to get out) So I picked up DPNs. Should have worked just fine. But the reverse stockinette is NOT. The part right after the stockinette cable bit keeps having TERRIBLE ladders. Darn it, I knit with DPNs all the time. I know how to prevent ladders, and yes I remember how to change it for purl instead of knit. I'm DOING that. I even moved it over a stitch so the break would be between two purl stitches rather than between a knit and a purl - same problem. Terrible ladders. It's UGLY. I'm annoyed with it. I'm at the stage of stuffing it angrily back in its bag. I don't know whether to keep going and see if it gets better, frog it out and wait until I can get a short circular and try again, frog it out and try to redesign a different bag with the same yarn or WHAT. It's in serious danger of being stuffed unceremoniously into a closet.
It's at times like this that
elisem's post about extra projects as nurse logs of creativity makes lots of sense. The missing ball of the dark green Happy Forest yarn came from Lettuce Knits recently, so I have picked back up on the Tulips baby sweater. It is making me happy. I like this pattern, I can see why the Yarn Harlot is so stuck on it. (And hey, what happened to the Yarn Harlot's site?)
I am wondering how to finish that sweater. They had left out my dark green ball, and I have a light blue, the medium blue that is also the edging, and TWO different purple balls - one that I think is supposed to be the Visual Purple, one that is a deeper, darker plum color.
Both are pretty. And I love purple. So I'm wondering - do I want to just make the sweater one stripe longer? Will that make the sleeves too horribly long? Will I have enough of the Blue Lagoon to edge around it all if I do that?
Okay, I want opinions, y'all!
