Monday I took all dairy and chicken out of my diet. I am still having a little chocolate - nondairy dark chocolate only. Monday night was still difficult. Last night - NO colic.

Which is good, in that yay, no colic! Which is annoying in that, gah, months of no dairy. And dairy's in EVERYTHING.

Sigh. The fridge has all these lovely things I can't have - cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt.

I'm HUNGRY. I think I'm getting an apple for lunch. I'm going to try to get a grocery run in later, but it's going to be frustrating.

I love her, though, and I don't want her to hurt. And I certainly don't want to be up with her screaming at 3 am.

Once you've established that it is your diet - can you try adding things back slowly to see if they bother her? I mean, if chicken isn't a culprit, there's a good protein source.

There are some decent soy cheeses now, and soy yogurt isn't bad at all. Good luck and I hope things get better now that you've made the diet adjustments.

The soy cheeses still have casein, milk protein, in them. And the time I was exposed to soy yogurt, I found it awful stinky stuff. (I had a kid on a casein free, gluten free diet, so I've been through some of this.)

It'll probably only be for several months.

Oh dear. Good luck. I suppose it's too much to hope for that she's reacting to the chicken instead? *wry*

Doubtful. Dairy is typically the #1 offender.

Drat. Any chance she'll get less sensitive in time? Or are you going to be off dairy till she weans? (I'm crossing my fingers that she gets more tolerant. *crosses fingers*)

Oh, it will improve with time. Probably 3 months or so. I know Brendan was over it by 6 months, and I've since found out I should have tested things earlier.

Would soy-milk (one of the brand names is SILK) fill in some of the gaps for cooking use?

Yes. Don't know how much I'll use it for cooking, but it will mean I can go back to granola for breakfast. I bought some today. I also found a dairy free margarine tub. Hm, I should have bought some sticks, too, to sub for butter in cooking. Next time.

Speaking as a lactose-intolerant person, I sympathize!
