Ow oh ow ow ow my feet HURT.

Been school supply shopping. Annoyed at the store. The whole school district has a bleeping list - you'd think their managers would order stuff according to the list. Tons of stuff we can't buy, run out of much of the stuff we must buy. Grrrrr.

We went to Staples for our list -- managed to find it all, whew! (Also got some supplies for general classroom use, as that wish-list was on the paper that our school sent.)

You're turn!

Been there, done that, couldn't buy the tee-shirt, it was sold out!

Understand completely, glad it's not me. I actually had some better years when I realized the lists were out before people were ready to buy...shopping earlier helped. (this advice only good for next year, I know!)

Try Office Depot, too. They have a ton of stuff, and people don't look there as much as they do at Wally World. Ah, where is K and B when you need them - they used to have EVERYTHING on the list. (Don't even look - they sold out/closed their partnership.)

Many of the stores around here have prepackaged kits containing everything on the official list for each of the various schools/ages. Of course, it's nigh unto impossible to get *your* kids' stuff, because as you discovered and pointed out, they never buy enough and it's always sold out.

Perhaps I was just oblivious about stuff like that when I was a little kid, but I don't recall my parents having to buy all that much stuff when I was that age. (Heck, I *know* that when I was in the early-elementary age, the school supplied our pencils, paper, and scissors!)

No way, there was never a prescribed list. Good lord, do these people think we're made of money??

School supplied, lessee, paper, pencils, crayons, and scissors, up to 6th grade. Past that age, I was responsible for pens, notebooks, and whatever else I felt I needed--folders or whatever. Sure, some kids had more and fancier, but that was the basic minimum.

Now, in France, there was not only a set list of what to get, it was detailed down to whether your notebooks should be normal graph paper (petits carreaux) or large ruled graph paper (gros carreaux), and this list was orally dictated the first day of class. Woe betide the hapless exchange student whose French was so bad she mistook "carreaux" for "carrottes!"

We definitely have a prescribed list. In fact, here it is:

I'm responsible for one set of Pre-K and one set of K requirements.

And I just realized today we got the wrong kind of scissors, darn it, I have to go get another pair today.

Of course there's a list - all our tax money is being spent on anti-drug videos and diversity training and suchlike, dontchaknow.

How are children that young supposed to keep track of all this stuff?? Jeez. And, wait a minute, they want pointed scissors for pre-K and K? What are they thinking?

Well, at least you don't need to look for notebooks with large carrots.
