Book pushing
Sep. 24th, 2007 08:45 pmI just vacuumed in the living room, so Karl went and sat in the library with Alanna in his arms. Maggie's wandered in there now.
Apparently she asked him about a book. I can hear him enthusiastically pitching Heinlein's Star Beast to her. Maybe I can get him to start reading SF to her.

Date: 2007-09-25 03:49 am (UTC)Are you in the Northern Virginia area? Did you see Stephanie on Thursday, or are you commenting from somewhere else?
If you're from around here, are you going to Fall Fiber Fest or Stitches East? I'll be going to both of those, and could bring the coat and you could see it.
In any case, you need to get copies of Arans & Celtics and Elsebeth Lavold's book about Viking knitting.
I'd like to meet you!
The Star Beast was one of my daughter's favorite books when she was growing up.
As you can tell, I'm an SF fan. I love Firefly, Dr. Who, Torchwood, Blake 7, Babylon 5, Heroes and lots more.
And the books! Another good kid's book (in addition to RH's other kids books--The Rolling Stones, Red Planet, Podkayne, etc.) Is The Witches of Karres by James Schmitz, and it's sequel, The Wizard of Karres by assorted authors who loved Witches so much they wanted a sequel.
Red Planet reeled me into SF when I was 11. Willis was my first alien.
A friend and I did advance publicity for Star Wars. And I worked on some SF movies. My IMdB page is listed under my married name DesRoches. I recently did the cover, inside cover and label for the first Steve Canyon DVD.
