I went out this afternoon to run errands with Maggie and Jamie both along, so Karl could be free to work on unpacking. I told him next time I offer to do this, please sedate me. It would have been easier if it hadn't been raining.

I got a bouncer seat for Jamie. I don't like to get him too much of the commercial baby stuff - but I wanted a safe place to put him and buckle him in when I'm changing Maggie, f'rinstance, or somewhere he can sit with me in other rooms. This one is relatively light on the bells-and-whistles, and grows up to be a toddler rocker - a good thing, as he'd outgrow the weight limits on the just-newborns ones really fast, as big a boy as he's getting to me. (It's this one, if anybody's interested.

(Interacted with another mother in the Mother's Room at babiesrus - she had a 4 month old daughter. I think Jamie - not quite yet 6 weeks - must have outweighed her. The lady was astonished at him. Maggie was fascinated by the 4 month old girl, kept pointing to her and saying something that sounded like "Baby!" This is good, her speech therapist will be pleased.)

Also shopped for some yarn I wanted at hobby lobby, and some hooks to put up for towels in the master bathroom. Time to get those boxes we've been draping towels over OUT of the master bath, so we can put Maggie's training potty in there. We're getting a pair of traditional wooden ones with the little pot in it - no cutesy lights and fake flushing sounds, thank you, and no pinching plastic. Now I just hope it will work out.

And went to Central Market for groceries, mostly GFCF stuff for Brendan, and a few nice splurges for me. That took entirely too long.

Anyway, I mentioned baby's first vibrator. It seems ALL the bouncy seats come with a "soothing vibrations" switch these days. Yep, it's a vibrator. I put Jamie in the seat while bathing Maggie - the babies get their baths assembly-line-style most evenings. And since he was going to be sitting there alone, I went ahead and turned it on to see if it amused him. He had the most stoned looking glazed look in his eyes. Not sure what he thinks of it.

I suppose in a culture that was already giving tickle-me-elmo vibrators to preschoolers, this is the next logical step.

It's late, & I'm tired. We're planning to go to the UU service again tomorrow, & I laid out clothes for me & all the kids already. Maggie is still up, & didn't nap properly, so she's cranky & clumsy. Hopefully she'll sleep soon.
