That she should be remembered:
Dorothy Seiver

Memorial services for Dorothy L. Seiver, 85, of Aledo, are 2:30 pm Monday at Aledo United Methodist Chruch, where she was a member. Visitation and fellowship will be after the services.

Dorothy died on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Memorials may be made to Aledo United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, is assisting the family.

Dorothy was born in rural Aledo, on Feb. 23, 1922, the daughter of Charles and Pauline Waters Butcher. She graduated from Aledo High School in 1939. She married Robert Seiver on Oct. 19, 1941. She accompanied Bob during his pilot's training in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Dorothy loved boating, camping, square dancing and following Aledo Green Dragons football.

She was a two-time president of Aledo Chapter H of P.E.O. International. Dorothy had worked for the Mercer Carnegie Public Library District, as well as the law offices of Gene McWhorter in Aledo. She taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school at her church, and in retirement, volunteered at the Harlingen, Texas grade school HOSTS tutoring program.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Bob, Aledo; two sons, Bob (Barbara-Kay) Seiver, Zachary, La., and Steve (Kathee), Rock Island; three brothers, Lee Ward (Barb) Butcher, Alexis, Don (Joyce) Butcher, Aledo, and Kenny (Shirley) Butcher, Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Alex Seiver, Jacqueline Davis, Laura Gallagher, and Robyn Guillory; sever great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents.

At the moment, I'm not going to add anything to this. I have a lot of thinky thoughts going on about her, and the family, and so many other things. I hope to get the trip written up in detail, and write about it all. But not tonight, tonight I'm taking care of a sick child. But I wanted this up.

Laura: hugs and condolences on the loss of your grandmother.

("Dorothy L" is a good name. It was my mom's, too.)

Condolences. I recommend Morten Lauridsen's Lux Aeterna, truly beautiful. Also Brahms' German Requiem, if you can find it in English.
