Birthday party pictures and commentary, from Sunday

Here's Alanna in her swim suit, over the swim diaper. It's SPF 50. And cute!

Here's Maggie in her new coverup towel. She got a butterfly, Alanna got a kitty, and Jamie got a horse. He didn't cooperate with pictures, though.

It was so CUTE!

Here's us otu at the pool. Karl was off with Jamie in the supershallow splash area, as he was not willing to come deeper. Miles and Jazz worked on teaching Maggie more swimming.

Alanna got to float in the water a lot, and she did really well! Andy and Jazz helped with all the kids.

We got Alanna this baby boat. She enjoyed it. It was cute. We got to tow her around.

I decided the boat should be named. Karl's suggestion is the Yellow Supermarine.

I think Jamie may be behind Karl, he was trying to convince him to swim, but mostly he stayed on the stuff to the right that's ankle deep. Maggie was about to leap into the water to Miles.

Jamie's outfit is spf 50 - he was playing in our backyard pool a couple weeks ago and got TERRIBLY sunburned, so I got him this outfit to prevent that again.

Alanna's still pretty unsure about this package opening thing. It's like she's thinking "but you get UPSET if I tear things!"

Maggie was very excited about her presents. She got a book and a CD from her aunt, and coloring and activity books from Grandma, and a video game too.

At one point Alanna took one of her presents and tried to go "hoard" it.

No, you don't, come on back, sweetie! Jazz got her. That's Aaron looking on.

At one point she went off to the hallway gate and was hiding stuff there, but when she saw me with the camera she came running

Alanna opening some BOOKS! Her godparents gave her books and a stuffed toy-book combination, and her parents gave her a book too.

Maggie shows off the little puppies that Jazz and Andy brought her.

Maggie got a doll from Nana and Granddad. Nana made her wardrobe, and the buttons are shell buttons from my great-grandmother's collection - made in Burlington, Iowa back when there was a shell button factory there on the Mississippi. She adores it.

She loves her doll, named it Cinderella. She changed her clothes later, had me braid her hair, and slept with her that night.

We gave the kids foam swords and shields. These went over well.

Andy, Jazz and Aaron are all fencers, so had fun with the kids with these.

Alanna started out fairly neat....

When I went off to help Maggie with her doll's hair, it wasn't too bad...

... later I got called back to see this! She got a bath next.

Oh, my heart is just *melting*! What adorable pictures. The cakes are gorgeous, and I love the foam swords and shields! Where did you get them?

Ooh, and water baby! Z and I can start swim lessons at the Y when he turns 6 months old. I can't wait!
