So I had the oddest craving today - as I walked out of the Tarrant County courthouse, I suddenly was seized with a craving for a really good sub. Ideally a pepperoni and provolone sub with oil and vinegar, like I used to get in high school. I suspect it's my subconscious dredging up sensory memories - I recently heard from an old friend I met in high school at Morristown, and we used to go get subs at Long John's (how long is he? as we'd ask. Highschoolers, what can I say.) That was my favorite.

I was briefly in New Jersey back in '99, when we'd come to Long Island so Karl's mom could throw a belated wedding reception for us with her friends. We took side trips, Karl showed me Boston where he'd gone to college, and I showed him the areas where I'd lived in Summit and Morristown, NJ. I had to stop and get a sub while we were there. It was a fun trip. Showed him some of the Revolutionary War historical stuff while we were there, that was enjoyed by both of us, and his my favorite farm store. Now I have NJ on my mind again. Hope I can get back there sometime, but with 3 kids to juggle and my hatred of flying I doubt it'll be anytime soon. I want to take Karl to where I was born and went to college in Michigan someday, too.

I'd mail you one, but I don't think it would keep...

Yeah, doesn't it suck when your cravings are only available long distance? I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to go have dinner at a Friendly's.

One of the other cravings I get is for Mackinaw Island Fudge Icecream, which I used to buy down at the Quality Dairy stores in Lansing, Michigan, when I went to college. Can't get that one shipped, either.

At least I have one craving I can get shipped - Sterzings potato chips. They'll send you a case. Yummy. Used to eat them when visiting my grandparents in Aledo, IL. My grandparents now are snowbirds who winter in the farthest south bit of Texas - now that I'm in Fort Worth, I wonder if I can get them to visit on the way down, and bring me a few bags.
