kid update
Feb. 18th, 2004 03:55 pmMaggie's new accomplishment - she's playing PeekABoo and actually SAYING "boo!" when she does it. Which is new. I expect her speech therapist will be very happy to hear this.
Brendan's update - he's been mainstreaming with an aide at school (already a step up from the part-time mainstreaming and part-time special ed room that we started the year with, which was a giant step up from the full-time special ed classroom they were leaving him in in Redondo Beach), and they've decided that he's doing well enough that they're going to start reducing his aide's hours with him. Not in big chunks, as I'd have expected, but little pieces throughout the day. That sounds like a much better way to wean him from it, and they've assured me that they will put it back if he has trouble. Cynical me had been wondering if they were trying to save money, but I can't figure out any way they could be doing that with this schedule, so I guess they actually are trying to do it because they think it's best for him. I'm so glad we moved here.
Jamie update - he's adorable, he smiles a lot, and he's getting more into looking at things. Currently thinks the zebra on the mobile that is on his swing is wonderful. Almost giggles at times.

Kid update
Date: 2004-02-19 04:26 am (UTC)I am glad Brendan is in such a good environment! Having a good school system is important for all parents but so much MORE important if you child has special needs. I am heartsick at the thought of having to move away from this area mostly because the school system is so good here.
