Mar. 7th, 2004 06:28 pmWhat IS it with this house and lightbulbs?
Scott fixed the over-the-stairs bulb when he was here in November (hanging off the hallway banister-thingy, ship-rigging style, pirate that he is), and it's been dead again for weeks. Brendan's light died last week. One of the living room bulbs went out, and I'd just replaced it, and now when I turned on that light, two more of the bulbs died, and I'm pretty sure those are new since we moved in.
And I won't even get into the frustrations of the hanging light in the foyer that requires an extra-high ladder, which we don't have! AGH!

Date: 2004-03-08 10:25 am (UTC)I don't know what causes this, but it's happened to me in ALL of my Houston homes. I'd hoped that DFW might not share that quirk.
I might be tempted to think there's something wonky about the power quality--occasional spikes or surges or something. Except that I've never lost any delicate electronics, just light bulbs.

Date: 2004-03-08 12:16 pm (UTC)Do the allegedly-long-lasting expensive flourescent bulbs do any better? I was thinking of buying one for the hallway, next time we can get you to come up and go "up in the rigging".
I still don't know what to do about the foyer.

Date: 2004-03-08 10:49 am (UTC)1: The compact fluorescent bulbs that fit into normal places. We do our basement in those -- the globe-bulb kind instead of the bare-coils kind. They're a little dim coming online, but get nicely bright pretty quickly.
2: Something with the wiring? O:/
