So I went out earlier to get a package mailed out - customs forms, ack! Hopefully it will go through okay, I was being pretty vague.

On the way back I ended up taking the frontage road along a section of the 820 where I'd always been on the main highway before. I passed a new subdivision under development, the kind with the big pretentious entry way with the curving stone walls on either side and the big square pillar wih the subdivision name engraved on the front.

Caballitos Del Mar

I may have mangled the spelling. I started laughing, and called my mom to confirm - she actually speaks some Spanish, whereas I just recognize cognates and a few words here and there. She said yeah, it does translate more or less as "Little Cowboys of the Sea"

Bwahahahahaha!

We hashed out that a possible alternative translation could end up as something like "Darling Seahorses"

Still, ha! Living in "Whisperwood Estates" suddenly seems much less silly.

(Laugh) I pretty much came to the conclusion a while back that most developers just jumble Spanish names together without actually seeing what they translate into.

Case in point, while back I lived near "Via Camino" Which roughly translates into "Street Way" or "Street Street"
