Picked up another skein of the Regia Clown ringel rainbow yarn yesterday, so later I can do a 2nd sock for Maggiekins. Thinking it might be nice to make a rainbow teddy bear with the rest of the skein, I have a teddy bear pattern on order.

Working some on [livejournal.com profile] selenite's socks, around the kids. Between the variegation and how dark that green is, it's going to be subtle cabling. Hope this cast on is big enough, when he gets home tonight I'll try whatever I've gotten done on him.

FJUUC's Crafter's Group met for the first time so far. Four of us to start with. Beth, who organized it, wants our first project to be making seat cushions for the hallway/foyer benches, which is a good idea. I had grandiose ideas of embroidered tops - I suppose from knowing a friend back in California who was on a church's Altar Guild, and seeing the amazing needlepoint kneelers they did. But we're going to start with something quick, to get something up there now, just fabric covered foam seats. Okay, yes, that's more sensible, and we do the amazing stuff later. But then, natural for me to think of the other - I do cross-stitch or embroidery well, but I'm not that much good with sewing. I had a measuring tape in my knitting bag, so we measured the benches. I suggested we go on a Road Trip to JoAnn's. After a brief sidetrip to organize my kids and [livejournal.com profile] selenite, who had met me there and was watching the kids in the nursery -

- And have I mentioned recently what a saint he is for this? The others in the group thought he was just marvelous to do this for me, and were saying so when he came in to hand me a hungry Jamie and a nursing pillow. He is a great partner and a great Daddy.

- Anyway, we went to JoAnn's, and found foam seat cushions for the interior, and after much discussion got some dark green calico fabric in a leafy pattern, and I have it to go hunt later for a solid green for the bottoms, as there wasn't enough calico for the whole thing. I'm also wondering if some of the designs I've been putting together and planning as hanging banners might be better used as fancy seat covers instead.
