Shoes of wonder
Aug. 26th, 2007 08:06 pmI am *not* having much time to post lately. But a couple of updates tonight.
I need shoes with really good support. I apparently have post-partum plantar fascitis. I've been wearing birkenstocks - the doctor said those were good, but I have to be in them *all the time*, no more wandering the house barefoot. Birks are good for a lot of things, but not so much for outdoors stuff, parks with the kids, etc. Plus the strap irritates a joint that gives me trouble anyway.
A while back we were shopping for sandals for a couple of family members, and I was talking to the guy at the store about how I'm frustrated that birkenstocks' closed shoes, sneakerish ones and such, don't come in wide. He had me try on a pair of MBT shoes. These felt AMAZING. I went home to think about spending THAT much money on shoes. And looked at their webpage some. The sandal place just had their sandals and sneakers, they had other nicer looking ones on their website.
So Saturday
fordprfct and I went to the Walking Store, and I was going to try some other ones on, and talk to them about MBT or other really good support shoes they might recommend. He got distracted by interesting technology once he came in with me - they have those things where you stand on the platform out of your shoes for a few minutes and it analyzes how you stand and what type of insole is best for you, and shortly he had a really good shoe salesman talking him into new shoes. Amusing to watch. I got the other guy to help me, and shortly became the possessor of a new pair of MBT shoes, the "Casual Brown" ones. We checked outside the store, yes, both new shoes are capable of a contra swing, maybe we'll get back to that someday.
I'm wearing them today. Been wearing them all day. Dunno how much of it is the shoes, or how much of it is some new vitamins that were recommended to me, but I've had a lot of energy today, moving around more, cleaning up, Getting Stuff Done.
I overdid it slightly, and am now tired and sore and low on spoons, but WOW I got a lot accomplished!
