celticdragonfly: (Zoe/Wash)
I just wrote fanfic. Dear me.

You fanficcers on my flist? This is totally your fault. You know who you are.

Well, it's also [livejournal.com profile] selenite's fault, he's been slowly getting me over to the Browncoats board, where there was a challenge posted about Wash and Zoe's wedding vows. I thought that sounded neat, but of course I am no fanfic writer, I told him. So we went upstairs to bed, and I was telling him all sorts of things about it. Little things about how I think it would have happened, and why, and a few catchphrases. And I couldn't get it off my mind. 12:30 in the wee hours and I couldn't get it off my mind. He sent me downstairs again to start writing it. This morning it totally ate my brain and I finished it. He said to submit it to the challenge, so I did.

Now, I'm still not a fanficcer. 'Cause I can't write anything that requires plotting. But this didn't. So it was cool.

I'm such a geek, I don't think most people end up with footnotes/endnotes in their fanfic, either.

I need a really good Zoe/Wash icon at some point. EDIT: Got one. Need MORE!

As [livejournal.com profile] selenite points out - hey, it's not just parents!

"Charming"

[livejournal.com profile] selenite was looking at job ads, and telling me about one listed from an "Exciting and Upcoming Aerospace Company"

I said I thought that sounded like the recruiter's equivalent of the realtor's "charming", meaning "seriously needs fixing up".

He said he figured it meant something like "Congratulations! Your employee number will be Lucky Seven!"

I groaned and said with his propensity to end up with hatchet-man jobs, it would be 007, licensed to harass.
