Wet cold kid emergency
Jan. 26th, 2006 12:43 pmWHEW. Somedays, like yesterday, I get complimented on my kids' behavior and think I'm doing a great job. Other days, well, I think I'm not the brightest crayon in the box.
Earlier I posted the kids' pics going outside to play. I knew there were a few raindrops, but figured if it got any stronger they'd come in. Well, when Maggie came to the door saying they got wet I thought that was it. She was wetter than I expected though. I went out to get Jamie - he was SOPPING. Sweater, shirt, pants, shoes, socks. (Fortunately for me
bkseiver makes kid sweaters that can be tossed through washer and dryer)
I realized - right, back when we had that issue with the hole in the fence and the neighbor's dog, Karl had put the empty sandtable upside down against the fence to block it, then when the neighbors fixed it, he just pulled it back and set it rightside up. Without the lid. And it RAINED Sunday. So the thing was full of cold water. I suspect they'd been playing in it some, then managed to slosh a lot of it over themselves.
I hustled them upstairs and into a very warm bath, let them play in that for a while, then washed them and got them into clean dry clothes. They're now having warm mac and cheese for lunch.

poor neglected harp
Jan. 26th, 2006 07:03 pmOkay, that was sad. Earlier today Maggie was playing on the piano, and asked me to come play on my harp for her. She's not allowed to touch the harp.
So I did.
I had to *dust* her. (The harp. Not Maggie.
selenite found that confusing earlier) I tuned her and and played around a little.
I seriously need more time on my harp. At least I do now know I can handle the harpstool again. I couldn't for quite awhile due to coccyx problems and surgery recovery.
Just now the kids were stable and happy, so I went back to the harp and started repracticing some of my favorite piece of music for her, which I had handy. I want to find the harp music and start practicing again. (And get those boxes OUT of the corner next to the harp, so I can get to her more easily)
I shouldn't, I suppose. I have so much housework I should be doing, and I have knitting commission work I should be spending every spare moment on. But it did feel nice.
