Here's what's just done and what's in progress:

Here's Maggie doing a FOD* on my behalf as she models her new sweater. [livejournal.com profile] bkseiver gave me the yarn for this sweater. It's meant for both Maggie and Jamie, they can share it, since they're the same size on top.

I'm pleased by it, because I had been complaining that it's hard to find nice primary colors for kids these days, especially for boys. Then Mom gave me her leftover yarn from making HER Crayola sweater. So now the kids have their own Crayola sweater. I wonder if there's enough leftover to make a little hat to go with it. Maggie *LOVES* hats.

*FOD - Finished Object Dance

And here I am Saturday evening, working on the second of the beaded socks for the SixSoxKnitalong. I'm eager to get these DONE, and not have to fool with them anymore. I'm not happy with the Wildfoote yarn, so I just want to get it over with so I can move on to something else.

Lovely! Steven wants me to knit him a sweater like the ones I knitted for his brothers...but I don't think I can cut the size down far enough. I really need to find some patterns for children that aren't too "cutesy". That one seems pretty good.

Oh, and Maggie is cute too. :-)

THis one is about as simple as it gets - one piece raglan in the round. The varigated color of the yarn is all that adds the fancy.

Knitting Kudos!

Ah, well done! Tell them their sweater looks just like Nana's sweater. Hugs from me all around!

Thanks. The neckline needed to be somewhat fewer stitches and should have been done on the smaller needles. Noted for next time. I kinda want to do another knit dress for Maggie on the same pattern, with the neck fixed and done longer to be a folded over turtleneck style, and put a stitch pattern in for texture, come in a bit for a ribbed waist and go back out for a skirt.

She was in the rose and gray knit dress this morning, we get a lot of compliments on it. And she remembers that - we put it on her in the morning post bath and she grins and says "I'm pretty!"

Hi,

I have uploaded the picture of your cute little son to my website. I haven't posted a link to it or my other pictures of GAfilk2005 because I wanted to check with you first and see if you minded.

Love,
Mary

What great colors!

I finished the banister socks, hurrah; forgot to get a picture before I gave them to Martin, but eventually I'll get around to it. It's a very nice pattern.

You too, huh? I actually use a fair amount of sock yarn as a second strand in my novelty scarves, and Wildfoote is my least favorite of any I've tried (Jaeger Matchmaker, Lorna's Laces, KPPPM, Socks that Rock [now called Soft Rock], Trekking XXL). Wildfoote is so strand-splitty (at least when I knit with it, even on my blunt-tipped bamboo needles!) that I've taken back most of the skeins I'd purchased. Ick, ick, ick!!!

The very first sock yarn I ever tried was Wildfoote. Amazingly, I kept knitting socks anyway. I hate it. 2 1/2 years later I was told oh, they've improved it So Much! So I tried it again. I hate it. It split like crazy. Never again!

I tend to buy inexpensive yarns. I've done some regia, some opal, 2 pairs in Trekking. I bought a bunch of Patons Kroy inexpensively from Smiley's Yarns online. I have one kit for a beaded pair of socks with Lorna's Laces that I'm looking forward to, I've heard such good things about that, but I can't afford lots of it. My most recent discovery has been www.knitpicks.com. Their sock yarn works just fine and is quite inexpensive. I've done one pair for a friend and am working on another pair for Karl.

I'm glad you've found a sock yarn that you like and that works well for you, without breaking the bank. Yay! Thanks for the knitpicks tip.
