I mentioned the weekend worsened?

So there we were at the bookstore, standing around looking at where the ZooGuy had just put penguin Jack back in her carrier.

And Maggie threw up.

Some at first, I managed to get her to the bathroom before most of it. But still pretty awful. I had to wash her sandals in the sink, rinse off her shirt and shorts, and stick my head out to send Karl out to the van for another shirt. (I knew we had no more shorts, we'd changed Jamie into the last pair, so she had to go out to the car in shirt and pullups. And wet sandals.)

She threw up again on the way home. Fortunately I managed to get her new beach towel over her lap and under her mouth first. (Mom, Dad, those towels are being all sorts of useful this weekend, if not in any way you had in mind. http://pics.livejournal.com/celticdragonfly/pic/0007wb89/ )

And then once at home, again and again. And again. Fortunately she was handling it awfully well for a three year old. She gets the idea that you have to try to do it over the toilet or the potty. She threw up some during storytime, but we were really thinking she had to be emptied out by then.

Nope. After she and Jamie were asleep, she woke up by throwing up all over the bed, herself, Jamie's outfit, etc. Had to get her out of the nightgown, then deal with changing Jamie, changing the bed, getting Jamie nursed back to sleep in my bed, new sheets on the nursery bed, etc. Maggie was pretty listless through all this. She threw up repeatedly through the night, wasn't even keeeping water down. She threw up 12 times in a bit over 8 hours.

Saturday we kept the kids home and quiet, she seemed to be doing gradually better, had some fever, eventually in the evening we let her start having cheerios. I did go out during the afternoon and run some errands and do some shopping, got groceries and supplies and such. Karl was feeling iffy, so he didn't go to a local game night we'd been thinking of sending him to. He slept a bunch during the day yesterday, which is generally a sign that yeah, he's sick, even though he generally says afterwards oh, he thinks the nap did him lots of good and maybe things will be ok. Nah.

The kids stayed home this morning while I went out for some things. When I got back, Jamie had fallen asleep - Karl reported he refused lunch and threw it on the floor. Then Jamie woke up from his nap by throwing up all over the bed. Poor Jamie. It's rather worse with him than with Maggie - he is not old enough to get the idea of trying for the basin/potty. He's thrown up 7 times so far. And Karl is now definitely sick, too, which is a shame, since there was a Browncoat shindig he'd been planning to attend tonight.

I'm trying to keep things together. Brendan's helping me do fetch and carry stuff.

Oh no! Distant, gentle hugs all around!

I hope Karl's better before the bug hits you and Brendan, if it does.

Do you want me to find the homemade Pedialyte recipe for you?

Not to the scale you're describing, but this morning Russ woke up with intestinal difficulties and went right back to bed. I don't feel so great myself, but I'm able to manage light duty. The kid may have been slightly ill (he crashed at 530 pm yesterday, woke at a normal 700 am) but if so he's largely getting over it.

I'm scheduling myself for "shamelessly lazy" today, staying in the house and letting the kid watch all the Uplifting Children's Programming he wants if it'll keep him quiet. I'm going to let the spouse sleep all day if it'll help.
