lack of progress report
Dec. 8th, 2003 09:55 amToday is Maggie's Demi-Birthday, she's 18 months old. Adorable, sweet, wonderful girl.
And I really expected to present her with a younger sibling by now. Nope. No signs of labor whatsoever. Not getting any closer. This is more pregnant than I've ever been.
Sigh.

Date: 2003-12-08 08:10 am (UTC)Let's see... recommendations I've had. Eating calimari was recommended. I replied that I thought it over, and decided I didn't want to have this baby this year THAT badly, yuck. Eating chocolate. I said if that did it, I'd have this baby already. (Mom's opinion was that eating chocolate doesn't make the baby come any earlier - just makes you more contented about being late!) Sex, of course, although that sounds about as easy as climbing up on the piano these days.
The week my Dad was here, the week leading up to my due date, I was actually trying the breastpump stimulation again, which is what we did to get Maggie going. The midwifery apprentice checked me first, and confirmed the cervix was soft, 2 cm dilated outer os, no dilation inner os. From Tuesday through Saturday I did the breastpump thing, 2 or 3 times a day, 15 minutes per side, just as my previous midwife had recommended. Last time I'd get scattered contractions afterwards, more and stronger each time, then drifting off, until the night of the 2nd day they didn't stop. This time, NOTHING. I gave up on Saturday. The following Wed. I was checked again - no more dilation At All.
This is more pregnant than I've ever been. Brendan was a week late, Maggie was 4 days.

I believe I read that Chamomile Tea was used to bring on menstruation (in really high doses, apparently it can aid in early-term miscarriage?) -- perhaps it could bring on, well, labor?
