celticdragonfly: (Maggie Xmas 2006)

Maggie and I made a "Christmas tree" for her homework. It's cutouts of all of the family's hands in green paper, glued upside down into a triangular tree. 12 hands makes for a good tree. I have been helping her decorate - star stickers and heart stickers from my paper arts treasure box, and a little gold filligree thingy glued on as a tree-stand, and I glued on smarties candies as little ball ornaments.

It looks lovely and I'm glad you had fun. I fought for a while against the idea that kindergartener = "you must have art supplies at home" but I'm starting to get used to it.

The latest project was decorating a cut-out-paper-bag gingerbread man at home. I saw several of the early entries when I was at school for a teacher conference and at least one no WAY was designed and executed by a five-year-old.

Andrew's was, and looks it. But I think the glitter glue is a nice touch.

Oh, to me half the fun of having a kindergarten-aged child will be home art projects. We'll probably end up w/ more art supplies at home than most whole kindergarten classes. :D

Ooh, good work, you two. That's a keepsake. Could you add a tree banner, or a gift tag, or some other good place to label it with December, 2007?
