My parents are visiting this weekend, and will be here sometime tonight. Time unknown, they're checking out the new planned Hypothetical Hurricane Fleeing Route here. This is good, and dinner's in the crockpot and is purposefully not time-essential. So yay.
I am taking a break from the bazillion things I'd like to get done today. Karina thinks I'm taking a break so she can cuddle up to my arm on the desk. Ever since we put the vinyl tablecloth cover on this table, the cats LOVE to sit on it.
So the main reason they're coming is that they're adopting another cat from the
Texas Siamese Rescue center. A blue mink Tonkinese registered male, 2 years old.
( Picture! )Now, the part that makes me roll my eyes - the name they have listed for him is - Bubba. Yes, my parents are driving into Texas to adopt a Tonkinese cat named Bubba. This gives me much amusement.
bkseiver (my mom) says she wants to see what he was registered as, can't believe it would be Bubba. I think she may be underestimating Texas.
So I'm trying to come up with name suggestions to
pester Mom with helpfully offer, something close enough that the cat might respond to it, more dignified, that she can train the cat to take. Some cats are very attached to names - Mom tells me that
phoenixsinger's cat utterly would not take a new name, but when they called him Skipper (the pound's name) he perked right up and listened. Some cats, of course, don't pay attention no matter what name you use. But still, worth a try.
I haven't managed to catch my favorite herald online, so I'll open this up for suggestions. I talked to Sue Ruadh earlier, she suggested Ali Baba. Other suggestions?
Update and edit - Not looking for generic pet names. Looking for more dignified names that might sound similar to Bubba, in case Mom needs to wean him away from that.
